It seems like from the beginning of time the Tree of Life has been in existence. If you read in Genesis 2:9, God placed right in the middle of the Garden of Eden the tree of life.

“Out of the ground the LORD God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden”

Genesis 2:9

Could He have placed the Moringa tree in the garden? If you compare what we know today as the Tree of Life to the biblical Tree of Life, it says it was good for food. So, could there be a correlation between the two … both have benefits. The Tree of life has been used and noted on tablets for thousands of years.

There is a purpose for every plant on this earth. Most herbs and plants have tremendous benefits. Even in those that have some negatives, there is a reason for them. Moringa oleifera has tremendous uses and benefits but I will touch on the negative first.

In research I was intrigued with the downside of Moringa, which really there isn’t a downside. You just need to know how to use it. It’s not in the leaves, nor in the flowers, nor in the pods. It’s the bark and roots. And, if you look at it, not even in the root and bark are bad but you need to know how to consume it and what it’s GOOD for. However, the root and bark have been used for centuries in larger doses for miscarriages or aborting a fetus. And if you take too much it may cause death. So, I wouldn’t suggest ingesting the roots or bark if you are wanting to have a family. But on the other hand, the roots and bark are packed full of anti-inflammatory, and natural anti-bacterial compounds. If taken wisely and in moderation, it acts as a cardiac stimulant, anti-ulcer and anti-inflammatory agent. The alkaloids in Moringa root and bark act like morphine and the moriginine act as an anti-obesity agent.

Caution must be taken when ingesting these components. In fact, it is suggested to avoid this part of the tree or seek professional instructions from a medical physician familiar with the tree or naturopathic doctor if it is to be used for medicinal purposes.

We are done with the downside. But when it comes to other negative side effects non can be verified, confirmed or founded with the leaves, flowers and pods. There are many scientific and clinical studies that show otherwise.

Research has shown many results from taking Moringa. In fact, there are more than 1300 studies, articles and reports on Moringa focusing on the benefits and efficacy of the plant. Every part of this plant can be used whether it be used as an oil for vehicles or oil for the skin, tea, and or make a powder or capsules from dried, fresh or ground seeds and leaves. In fact, if you roast the pods you can eat the pods like chips. Some cultures count it as a special treat. It is a very diverse tree. Its packed full of anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins, anti-inflammatory agents, all essential amino acids, and disease fighting compounds. Plus, it is the only plant that has an anti-aging hormone called Zeatin. They claim it is more nutritious than kale, spinach and matcha.

Moringa is used for many conditions. In fact, research has shown it has helped in over 300 illnesses. Obviously, the list is too long, but we can list a few (1):

  • Heart problems, including high blood pressure
  • Cancer
  • Anemia
  • Allergies & Asthma
  • Thyroid disorder
  • Epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s
  • Fluid retention
  • Low sex drive
  • Joint pain and arthritis
  • Helps to lower cholesterol

There are 6 proven benefits from Moringa which gives us reasoning behind its nickname – Miracle Tree.

  1. Anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant compounds (2)
  2. Slows the effects of the aging process and helps to adjust hormones (3)
  3. Fights Diabetes by balancing blood sugar levels (4)
  4. Nourishes the skin and fights skin conditions (5,6)
  5. Improves digestive tract (7)
  6. Protects the brain and uplifts moods (8)

It is always good to take responsibility for our health. Some ways to do that is do your own research. Too many times people rely on what someone says and don’t take the time or initiative to search it out on their own. Greed can play a factor in many industries, but people do not take that into consideration. The internet is full of information. But it also can be misleading. Searching for legitimate websites to receive information is important. That is why I have given research links so you can look up the information to verify what I am saying.

Moringa truly is a tree of life. So many uses, so many reasons why to incorporate it into your daily routine of eating.
